Hi I’m Richard Campbell I’ve lived in Albury Wodonga for the majority of my life. I married my beautiful wife in 1993 and we have 7 wonderful kids, 6 boys and our beautiful girl, ranging in age from 17 down to just over 2. In May 1988 I was invited to a small church in Waugh Rd. with a bunch of my schoolmates to attend the youth group. Over the next few months I kept attending the youth group on Friday nights, I then started coming along most Sunday mornings and nights until one night after much prayer from the friends that had invited me I answered the call from God. I know that moment in time changed my life, although my transformation is still ongoing day by day.
My adventure in this medium called radio all started when again at church a call was put out for people to train to become announcers on 2REM the community radio station on 107.3. I started with a 2hr program I called Psalm 150 on Tuesdays after school and eventually took over the 1/2 hr program for my church on Friday Nights. I loved the way I could play music that my friends and I liked that also had a Christian message with it.
My thoughts haven’t changed much on the power of radio and how it can bring a community of similarly minded people together. I would hope and pray that 98.5 theLight would help bind together the community of believers the Church in Albury Wodonga. No matter which denomination we attend we need to remember that we all Love the one God and that Love should similarly bind us together.
I hope as I hand my talents and abilities over to God for Him to use that He would see this humbled servant just trying to do what he can to equip and encourage Gods people through radio, so we all can influence this world for Him. Also I hope that the programs and music presented would reflect the heart and mind of Christ.
I’ve never done management work before, but as I learn and grow in this job and hopefully get to know the listeners and supporters and we mold and shape and grow 98.5 The Light together, my hope is that peoples lives would be changed for God.
