It’s an alarming stat that shocked Australians: 55 women died at the hands of their intimate partner last year. It means that on average, at least one woman dies each week as the result of domestic violence.
A short while ago my new book about teenage girls, Miss-Connection, was released. The book appeared on some bestseller lists around the country. Since then, I’ve been asked, repeatedly, for the “secrets” to raising happy, responsible, strong teenage girls.

Teenagers are massive users of digital technology.
The current generation of teenagers – known as ‘iGen’ – have grown up in the age of the iPhone and social media. Most of them can’t remember a time without a smartphone in their home, which they (probably) had access to during their ‘screen-time’. Digital tech is as much a part of their lives as pimples and puberty. It’s part of growing up in today’s world.
A brave mum raises her hand to ask me a question. There are close to 400 parents in the packed auditorium. The topic was teens and screens, but her question stretches well beyond those boundaries.
